How to use SpriteGrid
Color and palettes
The Color panel#
- The two squares at the top are the primary and secondary colors. Left-click draws with the primary, right-click with the secondary. X swaps them; D resets them to black and white.
- Type a hex color in the # field, or pick one in the box and the hue bar.
- HSB switches the fields below to hue, saturation and brightness, or to red, green and blue.
The palette#
The palette is a grid of swatches beside the canvas (View ▸ Palette, Ctrl+P). Each document keeps its own.
- Click a swatch to draw with it. The first ten are numbered: press 1–9 and 0 to pick them.
- To add a color, right-click an empty square and choose Place Foreground Color.
- Drag swatches to rearrange them. Right-click one to set it as a color or delete it.
The ≡ menu in the first square has the rest:
- Save Palette and Load Palette...
- Presets: palettes of classic machines and favorites, like Game Boy, NES, PICO-8, DawnBringer 16 and 32, and ENDESGA 32, plus the palettes you've saved.
- Create from Image: the 8, 16, 32 or 64 colors that best fit the document.
- Sort By hue, saturation or brightness.
- Import from Lospec...: paste a palette's link or name from Lospec, and it's saved with your palettes. Lospec's "open in app" links work too.
To keep art to its palette, add the Palette Snap effect to a layer: see Effects.
