How to use SpriteGrid
Text
Text in SpriteGrid is drawn in whole pixels and stays editable: it's a layer of its own until you rasterize it.
Adding text#
- Pick the Text tool (T).
- Click the canvas and type. Drag out a box instead for text that wraps at its width.
- Press Escape, or click away, to finish. Enter starts a new line.
Click text again to edit it. Double-click selects a word, triple-click all of it.
Fonts and style#
The tool options and the Text panel set the font, its size, the alignment and the color.
- SpriteGrid comes with pixel fonts like m5x7, Silkscreen, Press Start 2P, Pixellari and Dogica. A pixel font is drawn at its own size; Scale makes it bigger, still crisp.
- Show system fonts lists the fonts on your computer.
- File ▸ Import Font... adds a
.ttf,.otfor BMFont.fntfile. SpriteGrid tells you whether it's a pixel font, and at what size. - The Text panel also sets letter and line spacing, and adds an Outline and a Shadow.
Rasterize Text turns a text layer into pixels you can paint on.
